　　It 做形式主语

　　It 做形式主语一般有两种情况，第一种情况是it指代主语从句，通常的结构是It is adj. that+ 完整句，这种句型其实还原到最初的样子应该是：That + 完整句 is ad。

　　先拿71H，social science文章中的句子来举一个例子。文章83行有这样一个句子：It’s ironic that traditional advocates for sustainable agriculture have led a successful campaign to blacklist GMOs.

　　每当我在课堂中问到学生，句子开头的 it 指代的是什么，百分之八十以上的学生，是会觉得很蒙的。这个句子开头的it其实是一个形式主语，它所指代的正是后面that所引导的整个从句，这个句子本来的结构应该是：That traditional advocates for sustainable agriculture have led a successful campaign to blacklist GMOs is ironic.

　　It 其实是一个假的主语，真正的主语是后面的句子：可持续农业的传统支持者成功的领导了反对GMO的运动，这件事是很讽刺的。

　　第二种情况，it 做形式主语时，除了可以指代主语从句，还可以指代动词不定式。通常结构是It is adj. to do sth. 为了便于我们理解，这个句子也可以还原到最初的结构：To do sth is adj.

　　OG2的social science，81行有一句话：While it seems almost sacrilegious to suggest that the creative process that produced the declaration was a cut-and-paste job,……

　　这个句子开头的 it 指代的是to suggest that the creative process that produced the declaration was a cut-and-paste job这个主语。所以这个句子的真正结构应该是：To suggest that the creative process that produced the declaration was a cut-and-paste job seems almost sacrilegious.

　　说撰写宣言的过程是复制粘贴的，这件事似乎是亵渎神灵的。

　　What 引导的主语从句

　　这个部分我就直接拿例子来进行讲解。

　　强调句

　　强调句也是阅读文章中很常见的一个特殊句型。首先，我们来了解一下强调句的一个常见结构：It is + 被强调部分+ that/who+ 句子剩下的部分。在阅读的过程中遇到强调句，我们只需要去掉“it is”和“that/who”就可以看到句子最真实的结构。

　　第一个例子来自61D的 social science 42 行And it was Marshall, as the nation’s first African Supreme Court justice, who promoted affirmative action。这个句子简化之后的结构就是：Marshall, as the nation’s first African Supreme Court justice, promoted affirmative action。这样句意就一目了然了。

　　另外一个例子来自65E的humanities文章中的74行，it is that struggle for meaning that lets the writer escape the tyranny of what really happened and begin to dream her fictional dream.这个句子简化之后的结构就是：That struggle for meaning lets the writer escape the tyranny of what really happened and begin to dream her fictional dream.这里请大家注意，本句中的第一个that是一个指示代词，应该保留，第二个that才是表示强调的“that”可以省去。
